The Poetry of
Jack Scott

Stretch Marks

I remember my birth,
and now, having died,
I remember my death.
It was peaceful
to leave pain behind.
The final pain
was letting go of love.
I felt lighter-
not illuminated-
not floating exactly,
just more weightless,
no longer moored.
