The Poetry of

Not Expecting an Answer

God,
are you coming or going,
which is to say,
are you moving toward me
or away?
Are you for me or against me?
Are you before me or behind?
Are you sighted?
Are you blind?
How long will you be there,
if you are at all?
Or here?
How long have you been?
How fresh are you?
Do you spring from pulpit
or from pew?
Is there more than one of you?
Are you both coming and going,
coming and coming
going and going?
Are you random
with no preference or direction?
I would like to know
if I’m the one who made you,
am I the one who made you come,
then go?
