The Poetry of
Jack Scott

The Bread and Butter Never Work Out Even.

No wonder we’re bewildered.
We know too much
about too many things
to contain and reconcile,
too little of the vastness of the rest,
much too often nothing.
Yet we are expected
to see ourselves as others see us
and do as others do
as if we know what we are doing
and believe that they do, too.
