Separate Lightnings

Time struck separate lightnings.
Two strangers struck apart
were lit unmet,
except in blinding memory,
knew light an instant;
something in them lit
and kindled then went dark.
Two lightnings should strike
two at once or neither.
Lightning widows walk
on darkly separate balconies
from lightning widowers
on different houses
in different towns.
