The Poetry of
Jack Scott

Now is a Thousand Times Then

Those things I did not do for you
that you asked me to
so many times,
until you soured of asking –
I do them now
nightly in my dreams,
but you refuse to come
to see what I have done for you:
Now: a thousand times done,
a thousand times undone,
then again.
In that cycle
now is a thousand times then.
