The Poetry of
Jack Scott

Monte Negro

It’s you and me, god,
upon the screen-
you, me projected,
images of no substance.

It’s me and you, god
across the world
casting shadows,
leaving footprints,
small and large.

It’s you and me, foot,
leaving evidence
of passing,
but erased before return.

It’s you and me, shadows,
always beside me
until the sun, like god,
blinks out.

It’s you and me,
myself, unaided.
If I find help,
I’ll send it.
