The Poetry of
Jack Scott

Lancing the Boil

The passing storm draws inflammation from the land,
poultice sucking bruises tame and pale,
then strews the earth with colors freshened
vividly in its lightning-laundered air.
The rainbow after frames the portal
through which the purple storm has fled.
