The Poetry of
Jack Scott

From A Sorely Troubled Sky

Within a grey forbidding sky,
despite the icy, piercing rain
driven by the lashing wind,
through that dark and gloomy screen
a dazzling shaft of sun
broke through
as swift as lightning from another storm,
lingering but an instant here
yet staying as an image in my eye.
The closest I can come in words for it
is peace amid a sorely troubled sky.
